International CBX Meet In Hawaii in 2009?

Post by CBXRoger »

Just wanted to see what interest there would be for a Hawaii International meet for 2009.

1. A great destination for the entire family.

2. The Hawaii Super Ferry would allow us to ride all the major islands.

3. You can rent motorcycles or cars for touring.

4. Lots to see and do for the whole family.

5. Direct flights from Australia, Japan, China, New Zealand, Canada, Mainland America.

If there is any interest, I will start the planning process after the first of the year. You will have a year to schedule the vacation.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Looks like Will just raised the bar for some of us. I guess he's right though.

What month ya got in Mind, Roger? That would determine whether or not I can go. Susan just might go without me. <G>

What Month?

I am still trying to decide between holding the meet in the winter or the summer, or both. There are advantages to each. Winter, those in the northern climates can escape from the cold. Summer, those 'down under' can warm up and those on the mainland can get away from the high temps we saw on the C2C ride. The tempatures extremes in Hawaii are never too hot or too cold.

I will be meeting with the tourism people after the holidays and starting to firm thing up. I will keep you all in the loop.

Part of the planning might be bike rental costs. Some folks would want a Gold Wing or maybe an ST1300. Susan and I would go for a pair of 919s or maybe VFRs.

That said, I doubt we could get too choosy. I'd imagine that Gold Wings and Harleys are about all you can rent.

Convertible.........might be a thought/consideration, if a motorcycle or scooter rental don't suit.

Hate to say it and Donna will help here, but if one of those big 600+cc scooters with the living room couch size seats is avail that might work for us given the short distances to/from things.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...forgot........Roger.........great idea and we sure hope to see everyone there.
