Let's see, (if) its a perfect m/c (as in new condition) for $9,500, what model m/c produced these days would it be compared to and, at what price? Then consider which one you'd rather have.

from $9500 to start?! There is no way any CBX in my opinion would rate that. New or not, it's a 24 year old motorcycle, for 2 of them maybe.

In the Crate

Keep two things in mind:

1. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder (and)

2. It's only money

Look at this item for a reality check

Carl, Thats crazy for a console trim. I think I would have bought a used one or have mine repainted. I thought selling a used one for $40.00 was crazy enough. But a new one at one time was between $60-$80.00 If I only new!! And as far as Bills CBX at Tims I would think it would bring a least 7-9K It would cost a least that much to put one together like that. But like you said its only money and you can't take it with you. So we should buy what we like as long as a person can afford it. LOUIS

Anybody who pays between 7 and 9k for a molested , non-original 79 needs to have his sanity checked. I don't care how much effort anybody put into this thing. It is a fiddled-with junker.

Good Points

Post by Greybeard »

Lots of good points in these posts. My opinion is that there will come a time (in the future) for those high prices, I just don't belive it has arrived yet.

It's only money, but my supply is limited, and its safe to assume that prolly there are many more of us that belong to that CLUB.

:? Let me see. Someone takes a beat-up 79. Goes through the engine, rebuilds it some and paints it black. Switches the front end and the wheels on the bike, adds a Corbin (?) seat, an aftermarket exhaust and a headlight fairing. Goes through the effort to repaint the bodywork, but chooses 1980 black instead of 79 red or silver.

Now he sits down and looks at the money he spent for his "labour of love" and wants to get it back when he sells the bike. Plus a profit. What would anybody with common sense tell him?
