Yep, with the stroke of a pen, there could be a lot less interest in collectible cars. It's already difficult, because the high compression ratios of the past demand more octane than what you can get at the pump nowdays.

Living with a CBX and not riding it is like living with an incredibly sexy woman ....and not riding her.

And really hoping she doesn't dump you, hurt you and take all of your money !!!!!
Don't think of it as a motorcycle-- Think of it as a very fun 2-wheeled engine stand powered by a Japanese Slant Six !!

------I hear ya all on the govt.issues, try dealing with the Socialist Republic of California, they already tried and partially succeeded in getting 2-strokes banned in certain riding areas part of the year.It took some arm-twisting and threats of a major lawsuit for CA.to compromise on the issue, and the real kick in the head is that the ban only applies to 2-strokes and racing 4-strokes made after 1/1/97!!This totally defeats the purpose and is an obvious symbolic statement if anything. Also,a lot of 2-stroke weedeaters and other gardening implements have quietly disappeared from the market too.

The other issue with fuels EMS brought up,well, the CA.state EPA & CARB(Clean Air Resources Board)has succeeded in getting regs put in place mandating diesels used in govt.fleets to convert to CNG by 2007 or thereabouts......like I say, keep your guard up and stay on top of the issues! 8)

Of course,if gasoline gets scarce, there's always alky for the turbo..... :twisted:

Well, we can either own 2 CBX's (1 for show, other 2 go) or keep 1 in tip-top condition and do double-duty. From what Ive seen and heard, this club practices a lot of each! Me, I'm in the latter category when it comes to CBX's, just my one and only 81. See you at Marcus Dairy this Sunday? :cheers:

Lets face it, CBX owners obviously have impeccable taste in their choice of motorcycles, and generally their bikes are in a constant state of improvement, sort of super-intensive mantainance. These bikes actually reverse the usual decay process that occors w/ 99.9% of Japanese bikes.

On a parrellel note, I have restored almost 20 CB750's, including 7 sandcasts. My "final" resto is getting so restored to new (not over-restored, there is a difference) w/ nos exhaust, seat, pistons, fuel tank, bodywork, chrome, nuts and bolts, gauges etc that I am toying w/ the idea of not ever starting it.

Hey Andy:

Check the album. I posted something you may like as your Avatar. I know, it is heavily modified with a homemade 4 into 1 and a Giuliary GP seat, but still...

Wish I could but I'm such a computer neophyte :newb: , can't figure the avatar procedure. I have some nice pics. The praggle shaft part is ez, but the piston return springs and double clutch retainer a bitch to figure out.

O.K. Andy;

I reposted it in a re-sized version for the Avatar. You need to log in, download the picture to your computer (click on it, and save as.. onto your own drive).

then go into your personal profile, all the way down where it says "Avatar". Click on browse, click on the file name you saved the pic as, and update!

Should be it.

Hey Andy:

Glad to see it worked. The "Bullwinkle" comment gave me a good laugh this morning :lol: What looks like antlers, is a scarf, flapping in the air.

I put the larger pic in the Album for a while, so everybody can see what it really looks like. :idea:
