Hot and cold pipes?

Post by Dynamohum »

After a hundred mile ride I checked the temps of my headers and four of them were around 185-190 degrees and one was about 225 and the last one was about 165. I have good carb rubbers so would it be more likely due to the carb adjustment or?? The bike runs great with an occasional pop on decel. Should I take the pipe temps while idling? What might that tell me?

The hot one plus the "pop" sound like an exhaust leak at the header. Check the gasket or you could end up with a burnt exhaust valve.
