Rear caliper stay - is this original?

I've seen that the rear caliper stays seem to all be cylindrical. The one on my recent acquisition is solid rectangular steel. Is this OEM or am I crackin' up?

Hmm. Thought so. Wonder why that was changed? I can't imagine a reason other than tire clearance - and the swingarm is original and unmodified.

original wheel and swingarm you shouldn't need to switch it for tire clearance ...

For tire clearance and also longer for aftermarket shock reservoir clearance.

wouldn't an oversize tire hit the stock swing arm first?

Has your rear brake caliper/stay been modified?

The only modification I can see is the replacement of the original stay with the one pictured above. I think I'll keep it. My bike was a one-owner specimen, but far from original.

For instance, in the photo above alone, there are numerous changes - the caliper stay, drilled rotor, braided steel brake line, anodized wheel spokes, shock (of unknown origin).
