Finally got all my old 8mm burned to DVD!! This video was shot around 1989, a run up HWY 89 out of Wickenburg, AZ towards Prescott. Was on my modified 1979 CBX (the grey rat bike from the 2009 World Mega Rally in GA if you were there). Video was shot with a 1st generation GE 8mm video cam, remote Radio Shack microphone clipped to my jacket above the Hooker 6-1 exhaust outlet. Unfortunately was not running resistor spark plugs, so a lot of ignition noise. Camera was mounted on a homemade wooden mount with rubber feet, strapped to my replica fiberglass CBX fuel tank-worked great at absorbing a lot of the shock from bumps in the road-this was way before image stabilization, etc. The road is one way dual lane, so a good place to go "fast". Started at about 3500ft elevation, ended at about 4775ft-a gentle but noticeable grade all the way. Approx 4.5 miles. Was riding about as fast as I dared with a wife and 2 very young children at home. Tried to keep the rpm in the 6500-9500 rpm range, as that is where the Hooker makes the best "howl". At the end, you see me passing the RV and come up on a road construction site, and you can see an AZ Highway Patrol officer that said he had heard me coming for a long way (well, yeah, the Hooker is a straight through racing only pipe with a little bitty muffler)-you can just see him on the left at the end of the video. After some discussion and lecturing about "tired of scraping you guys off the pavement", he let me go. I was wearing full leathers, a full face helmet, may have mentioned I was a RN and was well aware of the potential aftermath of a crash. He admonished me to slow it down, and I did for the rest of the day. The bike was a bright yellow at that time and pretty easy to pick out-I was betting he radioed any other officers in the area.

Great quality video and one of the best sound recordings. Not too loud - just right. Well placed mic - a lot of mc vids have too much exhaust noise or wind noise.

Best of all, the riding was great. Super road, and looked like a lot of fun.
Great ending, too.

That photo is with the OMT 6-2header pipes, and custom made straight pipe extensions that the previous owner had made up-supposedly optimized for max power-they did make very good power on the dyno, but you can imagine how loud they are.
I still have all of those exhaust pieces, and the Hooker 6-1.

Good old Hooker headers. I have one on my CB836Kafe.
