I was just clued into something that you enjoy knowing too. See this photo?
That's a manufacturing date stamp from when this CBX engine was assembled. But how to interpret it? My pal clues me in:
"Japanese years are based on the reign of the emperor. So the CBX case dated 53.4.20. Was built on April 20, 1978 which was the 53 year of Hirohito's rule. He was known as the "Showa" emperor, so 1978 is Year Showa 53."
