Niiiice! I bought a Ducati 999 years ago that I found in the dining room of a southern Montana ranch house. Was six years old with just a thousand miles on it.

I usually don’t have the bikes inside, but this winter the garage/workshop is occupied with a car project I’m working on.

I got out for 124 miles today on my Suzuki cuz my guages are headed to Florida for a refurb. Gas was $6.69 a gallon so @ 37 mpg, I used 3.36 gallons, for just a bit over two hours cost over $20! Touring this year, even outside of CA is gonna be expensive.

Wow. Gas is almost exactly half that here for regular. Even diesel can be found for $3.44. Good thing, as I fueled up our camper truck this week and took 190 gal. We're going to Alaska for the summer, and expect fuel to be our biggest expense.

About 135 miles away is the Calaveras Big Trees S.P. on hiway 4 just east of Arnold in the lower Sierras. I walked the north grove path of 1.67 miles. Wutta day! These giant ancient Sequoias are magnificent and pictures don’t do them justice. I walked around the base of one of the bigger ones and it took 45 steps!

One of the downed ‘logs’ is large enough thru the middle that you can walk thru it. A lil creek runs thru it too. The table top stump is big enough to have a dance on. Some reserve it as a wedding venue

Some day, we're going to explore that part of the country. Thanks for sharing.

You can spend hours out under these giants, redwood or sequoias. Pictures don’t do them justice. Some, you can ride right thru!

I got in a 196 mile loop on my new 82 today, scrubbed in some new brake pads up front and enjoyed looking at my new gauges. I’d like to enjoy a little more snap to the throttle. Maybe 79 cams later on? but for now would adding 1-2 teeth to the rear sprocket give me enough ‘snap’ w/o raising the freeway revs too much? Now its turning 4,200 revs @ 70 and 5,000 @ 80. What’s the best suggestion? I’d prefer leaving the counter sprocket alone. Also, is the rule, add a chain link for every added tooth? It’s been awhile…

Got in 98 Smiles today and saw a behemoth of a bike that I’d never seen or heard of before, a Yamaha Star Eluder just like this one. Has an 1,800+cc air cooled twin with 126 pounds of torque. HUGE bike near 900 pounds.

If anyone’s getting out let us know. I’ve got over 1,600 miles on my new 82 since March 10th.

I got out for about 45 minutes today before it got hot. Nice to spend some time on the old girl!

Terry, both the front and rear suspension, wheels and brakes are from a 2001 Kawasaki ZRX 1200.

Boy the rotors and calipers sure do match. And those pipes look almost like two stroke expansion chambers.

Got in a nice 178 mile loop today in the Sierra foothills and out in the lowland rolling hills yella grass cattle country two lanes. That’s when something strange happened. I started to feel tapping on my boots. Over and over little taps, a shower of taps as I continued. I noticed the color of the pavement changing to a brownish like those areas where ranchers pull out onto the pavement. Turned out it was a few thou, million inch long grasshoppers. Well, they look like little grasshoppers. Luckily, as we can all agree, they weren’t any higher than my ankles. The fairing was clear and so were the headers! You can see how they ‘attacked’ me as I rode along.

Anyone else get out?
