Nice sky pic with the bikes lined up among the big trees but no CBXs? I’ll be riding around somewhere south of Tahoe this weekend. The Topaz Lake Lodge on 395 right near the border is nice, especially their downstairs restaurant. Last time I was there I had a huge lobster tail and elk chops.

I have toured on my 82 and enjoyed it, but we deal with some really hot temperatures at times here and it’s just not well suited to it. So I use my BMWs and Yamaha FJR1300 for most of the long distance touring I like to do.

Re: Anyone riding these days?
I got in a fabulous 172 mile loop thru five counties in the Sierra foothills today scrubbing in a new rear tire on the Honda. Spectacular day, blue sky, 80 degrees, a lil breeze and NO traffic! For the first 30-40 miles I thought I was in a Twilight Zone episode because there were no cars, no trucks, nothing was moving. Finally I saw a farm truck pulling a trailer and by the end of the 172 miles I bet I only saw 15 cars/trucks and 3 motorcycles. Was kinda weird but fabulous too! Stroked the ol Honda up past 100 a few times just because and had a good time testing out the new tire. Mileage now is 38,850 which is 5,160 miles since I got it. It’s ready to go anywhere. How bout it? How bout we all meet up somewhere, Lolo? Topaz Lake NV? Yellowstone? Glacier NP? Grand Canyon?

I guess the parking lot in Boise is out so I got in a 160 mile loop thru Yosemite yesterday. Weekday traffic was fine as was the weather. Turned over 39,051 miles. Just getting broken in…
Don’t know why no one rides these bikes.

Took a lil trip north on hiway 49 all the way till it dead ends @ Vinton and hiway 70. Vinton is about eight miles west of Hallejlujah Junction and hiway 395 very close to the NV border north of Reno. Turned west on 70 towards Lassen NP and spent the night in a lil burg called Portola. Incredible riding thru the tree lined river canyons, just incredible for miles and miles. The highest elevation was a Yuba something summit @ 6,700’. Very cool and shady along the river’s edge but looking straight up the sky was blue with scattered clouds. Oh, never stay at the Sleepy Pines motel. Next morning head into Lassen but sadly got caught in a half dozen one lane road closures with slow azz pilot cars. I have no idea why the pilot car can’t go faster than 10-15 mph. As I got close to Lassen I saw some of the devastation the fires did up there, even inside the Park.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Even when life gets in the way and I can't get out myself, I can scroll back through these and smile.
We saw lots of fire evidence on our journey to Alaska and back this past summer. Especially in British Columbia, where an average of 2,100 fires occur each year. But, the burned areas bloom in new growth in succeeding years, and the wildlife benefits from the tender new growth.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Re: Anyone riding these days?
I’d like to see your pics from the trip if you took any. I find it increasingly hard to stop and take pics anymore. I’ve been thru many areas more than once and it feels better just riding thru. Some of the nicest areas don’t have any turnouts and stopping in the road even on deserted mountain two lanes can be dangerous. The deep river canyon I rode thru on this trip was just like that. Riding nirvana, lefts and rights, swooping curves, elevation changes, river running right next to the road and finally cresting the summit @ 6,700’. Some folks are lucky enough to live there. There was one set of river side cabins I passed called Shangri-La. I may look into stopping there for a day or so.
The bike ran flawlessly in the mountains and @ 80 on the Interstate. 34-35 mpg. Tracks straight and smooth and turned over 40,000 miles and I’m really liking the 110/90/19 Dunlop 404 on the front and the Shinko 230 touring tire on the rear. This trip was just a bit over 1,000 miles. One morning was a crisp 36 degrees and after two twists of the throttle and an open choke it fired right up. Using the throttle lock to idle on choke for a minute and then off choke for a couple more to warm it up. The luggage carry bags that fit perfectly in the hard bags are very convenient and a real bargain. I can leave the hard bags on and still carry my goods into the hotel room. And again, I don’t know why no one’s riding these bikes. If they are I never see any on the road and no one posts any pics or trip stories here so…
Oh, I ran across this pic. Wutta cool lil bike huh?

Most of our Alaska pics are on a sd card, which I can't figure out how to download to this computer. My old Windows XP worked fine, but this new piece-o-crap has me pulling my hair out.

Here’s a place in Shangri-La (near Downieville) that I rode past. Deep in a heavily forested river canyon.
