Trying another helmet!

Post by Irishman1 »

My wife and just bought the new shoe GT airII helmets and the new sena slr2 integrated Bluetooth communication system.
We’ve tried the Bell flip up modular helmet about ten years ago for a few years and it was just too loud especially at hiway speeds when we are trying to talk through our older sena Bluetooth smh 10 set. For the past 4 years we’ve been using a Scorpion full face with our sena smh-10. They worked pretty good, a little loud but we could hear through the Bluetooth ok. We noticed hot spots starting to hurt our heads after a couple hours though, and our old sena was starting to get wonky. (It is 8 years old though)
When I was racing I had used Bell helmets for motorcross ( open face and the full Moto star series) and for flat track I uesed a full fall Aria helmet since I was littl. For road racing I started using a shoei. but we just couldn’t justify spending big bucks on our helmets now, even though I know our brains are worth it!
We’ve been wearing the new helmets in the house for hours to make sure they’re comfy with no hot spots and last night I installed the new sena system in it and so far we’re very happy!
With the old sena smh-10 com we could only ride about a 1/2 mile apart before we would start to lose clear connection with each other and my unit lost the left ear speaker about two years ago. We’ll see how well the new ones work on the road but so far in the house they work great, the voice commands work great and the music is great too. I really never listen to music when we’re riding but maybe I will. The voice part is clear and loud which when I’m riding the 79 cbx is a bonus!
