Hi there
This is my first (and no doubt not last) post. Am located in the Uk.

I acquired a 1980 cbx from Germany, below YouTube link:

And am slowly sorting it, however am having difficulty getting hold of a decent rear disc, do any other models fit this bike I.e cb 750, 900 etc. any help or advise, much appreciated.

Welcome TA

CBX stock early rear discs are not too hard to find over here, at least. '79 and '80 CB750F were the same, plus some others I'm sure. Your bike sounds like it has several exhaust leaks and the carbs certainly need some work, but I'm sure you get it sorted out.

Thanks Dave, will look out for theses alternatives.
The exhaust is temporary until it is running( have another ready to fix on).

I found one coil not working(3&4), replaced relevant spark unit, now works :D

Also cylinder No. 4&6 not working although all sparks firing properly. Looking at this site tells me will have to clean carbs and see how it does afterwards.

Also "Ta" is short for thank you not a name, sorry about confusing.

For what it's worth: Your "1980" CBX is a 1979 model CBX-Z from what I see. It has 79 wheels, no air assist fork and it looks like the engine serial number is not behind cylinder no 5.
It may have been first registered in Germany in 1980, which will make it a 1980 vehicle according to the official German registration documents.
A models (SC03...VIN numbers) were not officially imported to Germany by Honda.

Mucho a gracios Mr Secretary, thank you for the info.

I'm sure I will learn more on my rocky road.

I did own a one year old 1979 cbx when I was but a young lad whilst living in Germany in 1980 (obviously) but it got stolen and have missed it ever since.

Mike is right on about the frame being a 79 and not 80, it's a little blurry but it does not look like the frame has the adjusters for the swingarm, that began in 1980.
