Rotor offset.

I have changed the rotors on my spoked wheels from old, heavy GL1000 to larger, lighter CBR F2 rotors and Pro-link calipers.
To retain the use of the mechanical speedo drive i can not use spacers large enough to retain the proper rotor offset.
I know it would not be the ideal solution but would there be a problem with using two different thickness brake pads to make up the proper spacing?
George provided the info on 3 different thickness EBC pads.
Any thoughts?

That sure looks nice Steve.... 8)

I would guess ( tough to get my head round this) it would depend on where the offset requirement would be ?? To the puck side or the static side ?? Does the slot in the brake caliper allow you that amount of clearance ??

Steve:
Not sure, but would standard width, 900F style calipers work better on your current rotors? The wide Pro-Link ones would certainly require spacers or very wide pads.

Thanks, guys.
Both replies have me seeing this in a clearer manner.
I probably even have some 900F calipers somewhere.

does the rotor need to be spaced out?I'm also having trouble wrapping my head around what needs to spaced -where -ect. I like the way the tire
fills up the fender.-Mike

Mike, the tire is a 110/90-18 BT45. I like the look as well. I just hope it does not expand or flex very much while underway because the clearance with the fender is minimal.
As far as the offset goes, the distance between the outside of the ventilated rotors on a stock '81 wheel is 5-1/4". To get that distance with the Sun rims i need to use 3/8" spacers. The problem in doing that is that the mechanical speedo drive will no longer function. The hub on these wheels are very different than stock and the speedo drive i am using is from an early model GL1000.
What i am going to try is the narrower 900F calipers along with the 1/4" spacers that i have instead of the Pro-Link calipers.
I will report back.
