Front brake question

Hello all,

Not CBX related, just general hydraulic brake question
I own '99 Triumph Thunderbird Sport that has similar front brake setup to our CBX's and i have technical question.
When bike sits several days or more, when i squeeze front brake lever, it always goes all the way to the handlebars as if there is no fluid present.
One i pump it several times, it stays firm and i can ride it normally without the need to pump it every time. I did flush the brake fluid few years ago when i bought the bike but i'm not sure when this problem started happening.
I'm suspecting it's the master cylinder but would like to ask experts on here for their opinion.

Thank you

Sasha

Normally points to a faulty master cylinder, but check all connection's first before replacing or overhauling !

It's all nice and tight, no leaks at all. I have the MC rebuild kit just not sure if i should also rebuild calipers as well since fluid will be evacuated. It is almost 20 years old so perhaps it would be wise to do everything

Thank you

I would do the calipers, also, Sasha. Might want to consider a rear caliper rebuild if it has been that long. Not that much extra work. And, avoiding a frozen caliper piston, down the road, is worth the relatively little extra work. (Voice of 'bad' experience!)
