Lock

Post by E Lee »

Well here is an answer to my own question for those whom may need the same.

The locksmith put a probe into the back side of the lock cylinder to retract a "waffer retaining clip" the whole lock slid out.

This clip is at the bottom of the lock as viewed from key side. It's basically a spring loaded shim that fits into a grove of the lock housing. The probe looked something like an explorer a dentist uses. Fish around with it until you can hook it to push back towards the lock, freeing it out of the grove. The key was in the lock but not sure if needs to be.

Caution; when the assembly slides out be sure to do it gently because all the other springs and shims are there ready to fall out. If this happens you are in big trouble. Good idea to have a piece of masking tape ready to wrap around the whole thing to retain anything from loosing it self. Have not put back in yet but would seem; slip back in until clip meets grove.

Later,

Ed
