1982 SuperSport break-away mirrors

Post by Buzz »

I have a pristine 1982 SuperSport that has a broken left side mirror. It got bumped into one too many times in the garage and no longer returns to the correct position. I took it apart and it looks like a fixture is required to compress the spring and apply the retainer. Does anyone have information on this or suggestions? Thanks, Mark

You should be able to use a socket larger than the diameter of the shaft, but not larger than the OD of the lockring and drive thelockring down the shaft. It's easier than it looks. Don't hit it too hard or you'll drive the lock ring pst the groove it's supposed to sit in and you won't be able to rotate it.

Does anyboby have a right side mirror for an 82 or 81. The bike fell over and broke the mirror and bracket. Not a good way to start the riding season.
