81/82's running Dunlop tires

Post by CaptainCBX »

I'm thinking about matching my front Dunlop 491 Elite II with the same at the rear. I had to replace the Metzler ME33 front because it was dipped and caused a steering shake around 40mph. The local Honda dealer only had this Dunlop 491 in stock that would fit the front of my 82.

I will soon have to replace the Metzler ME77 Perfect on the rear wheel and was looking at matching the Dunlop 491's front and rear. The front new Dunlop seems to handle quite well.

I was wondering if any CBX'ers have any experience with the Dunlop 491 pair and how they handled on the heavy 81/82's????

Maybe I should go with Dunlop 501's???? or Bridgestone S11's????

Let me know if you find a 130/90-18 rear, the only one I know still made is the S11. Always match brands front and rear otherwise bike has that headshake. Going with a 130/80-18 rear will cause bike not to sit on sidestand rather insecurely, slows steering down, loses ground clearance.
