1100F wheels on 1981 CBX question

Post by andy »

If I try this mod, what can I retain from my 81, and what do I need to modify; ie: axles, spacers, calipers, discs etc. And what size tires fit w/o any further mods? And is it all worth it, meaning will it handle much better and give more tire choices?

hi andy

this assumes the 1100f front wheel will fit on the late model ....which i think it will, but can not tell you for sure

changes/problems:

1. your front fender will have more clearance and you might not like the look since the 1100f front tire is a 110x18 vs 100x19 as with late model

2. i would be concerned about the late model calipers being used with the 1100f rotors due to late model rotors being so much wider. you could ofcourse use the late model rotors on the 1100f rim.....if they fit

3. the 1100f 110 tire is wider than 1100f.....thats not news.......but what is news.... is the wider front tire on the cbx does make a bigggg diff

4. i have a complete 1100f front rim with rotors i could send you to play around with so you will know for sure what fits and what doesnt.....and could then post it here for all of us

let me know
