SMOKING CBX, MORE INFO

Several months ago I posted about my #2 CBX smoking after changing rings and installing a cylinders and head off a wrecked CBX with a little over 500 miles. It has been parked ever since and the other day I was riding my other X and it dawned on me that I had forgotten to mention that when I was installing the cams I somehow switched the right intake and exhaust cams. I started the bike and naturally it was backfiring so I found the problem and corrected it. It ran smooth but like I said was still smoking as delivered. Before I drag it out and do a compression test to see if a hole was punched through a piston can anyone confirm that at least one valve met piston during the initial test run?

Doubt if you would have a holed piston, more like a possibility of bent valves followed rods "if" there were a serious contact...

I must have lucked out because it still runs and idles smooth. Once I get my nerve up I am going to drive it to see if the smoking stops. Someone said the rings may not have seated completely yet which sounds a little rediculous but what the heck, I have done everything else to the engine.
