For less elaborate CBX engines that do NOT require that big of a sump, Mike Donndelinger of California, a while ago designed a deep sump spacer kit for the CBX engine.
Supposedly, it will NOT work with a 6:1 pipe.
Price was around $400 plus shipping. I am not sure, if they are still available. Contact Mike at: mikettx@ix.netcom.com

and now would you like to see pictures of the engine in the frame? Yep, that's right, it's mounted. Maybe I'll go by and take some pictures tomorrow. Andreas did run into a minor problem, in modifying the cases and covers he eliminated the oil filler/dipstick. Years ago. And it completely slipped his mind until he got the engine in the frame. So he fixed that slight quandary yesterday. You know how to check oil in differentials and stick shift transmissions where there's a plug you remove and fill it to the hole and to check the level you stick your finger in the hole to see if you can feel the oil? He made a big, threaded hole in the rear lower corner of the clutch cover. We compared the location to another CBX and it's close enough.
Another interesting development, Andreas used a Ducati when he layed out the chassis geometry. 57.25" wheelbase. I don't remember the rake/trail but it's the same as the Ducati he used. With the engine in the frame and tank/fairing on it I got on it. It feels light, really light. I believe the bike is going to weigh under 600lbs, way under. We might weigh it tomorrow and I'm going to guess 530lbs. That will be without oil/gas.

Andreas took off on a very important mission in the middle of December. He is going to let me know if it's possible to ride a CBX from San Diego to Rio Gallegos, Argentina. How is he going to come up with that info? He left on his KLR650 for there. December 15. Hopefully he'll have a safe trip and return with all sorts of tales. It appears that all but 54 miles is paved http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan-American_Highway . Southern Panama, the Darien Gap Rainforest. A road through there would probably spell the end for it. But it's fairly easy to ship from Panama to Columbia. Can't be too dangerous to ride a bike across Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, Equador, Peru, Chili, and Argentina?

Andreas did leave this thing parked in my garage so I wouldn't forget all about him

The slight inaccuracies in manufacture really portray the bike as a one off & not a sterile pressure die cast clean edged production motorcycle.

There's something about the hand hewn polished aluminum that sets this bike apart.

Never mind the obvious technological feat, this is truly a magnificent work of art in it's own right.... :bow: :bow: :bow:

Phil had to come down here to buy a motorcycle (CBX, what else?) so I enlisted his aid (and trailer) to return Andreas' Ferrari powered bike back to him. I thought Phil was going to have a heart attack, going down the road in his PT Cruiser with motorcycle trailer behind it with a motorcycle on it worth more then his car, trailer, motorhome, and a bunch of other stuff. He knows how I felt with that bike in my garage for the last 2 1/2 months. Like someone asking you if they can hang the Mona Lisa in your living room while they go on vacation.
