Removing lower crankcase

Post by Stevo »

Hi Guys recently purchased my first CBX 1981 used to ride CB750's back in my younger days. The motor sounds sweet, but I have completely stripped the bike for a paint of frame cleanup and reassemble, replace parts as required. On removing the engine I noticed on the left hand lower side of engine a discoloration in the paint, found what appears to be an epoxcy repair of lower case (I guess it has hit something and cracked the case, my question is can I remove the lower case for welding without dismantling top of engine?

Short answer is yes. It is a little more complicated, but yes.
Get yourself a FSM (factory shop manual)

Thanks Phil, I have a manual and thought it should be OK but just wanted confirmation. Thanks again
