Oil Filters

Post by cross »

Hey guys,

I found this Honda service bulletin for CBX oil filter element which states that CBX filter is designed for greater oil flow rate and higher temperature so not to use filters that are for other honda models even though they are the same size.
It says to only use 15410-422-000 for CBX and other models but
15412-300-325 should never be used for CBX
Partzille shows 15410-426-010 for CBX and above recommended part number is available but doesn't have CBX listed as model
What's every ones take on this? Would K&N filter be better in this situation?

Thanks
Sasha

I think the Partzilla 426 one will be fine.

Unless you find an old, old stock filter with one of the old part numbers for a non-CBX, anything Honda made in the last 25 years is OK for any Honda model. That also came from Honda way back when. Stick with Honda filters.

I was always buying Honda (and everything) filters from partzilla.
I did however find the part number that's listed in this service bulletin, it only doesn't specify which bike it's for.
Thank you

That 15410-426-010 filter was the replacement for ALL filters in ALL bikes that used that type of filter. Those other old numbers died years ago. Use the 426 filter and forget about it. One thing that I WILL mention is to avoid cheap ""Non-HONDA" filters like the plague. An issue that is not covered here is that most cheap filters use a "Glue" that will fail under the higher oil temperatures of the air cooled HONDA's. Either the glue softens and oozes out or gets hard and releases from the metal end plates. Oozing glue can actually be forced into the oil system and clog small passages or seize the oil pump. Either way, these cheap Chinese oil filters are not to be trusted or used.
