CMSNL Piston Rings

Post by haden2342 »

Hello everyone,

I'm in the process of assembling my engine and I have a quick question. I bought CMS brand oversize piston/ring sets and I noticed that the top and second rings have the same side profile which is different from the stock rings where the second ring has an angle to it. I don't doubt the design of these new rings, but I can't find any information on which ring is the compression ring. One has a chrome finish on the outside edge, I would assume that one is the compression ring, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows just to be 100% sure. Thank you!

Dug a little deeper and found an answer to my question. I'll just leave it here in case someone else comes here with the same question.

The Honda shop manual specifies that the chrome ring is the top one.
