Hello Chaps, advise please,
The wheel is off the bike and I wish to remove the front axle and have reached the stage of excess force being applied
to remove the right hand nut (to no avail).
The diagram indicates what this is the only nut to remove in order to slide out the axle bolt
(assuming its left hand thread).
Despite using the correct tools the bolt is fast becoming butchered to the extent the axle bolt
may become sacrificial, am I missing something?
Any advise, thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
Regards
Edd.

A little heat is a wonderful thing. Warm the nut so it is uncomfortable to leave your hand on it. If that doesn't work, strike the nut on the flats in such a way as to not cause further damage, but to send shock waves through to the threads. Using a big hammer to brace up against the back side of the nut is helpful.

What Rick said, heat is your friend for sure, but so is an air impact wrench.Rick Pope wrote:A little heat is a wonderful thing. Warm the nut so it is uncomfortable to leave your hand on it. Re: front axle bolt
Took the wheel to a local garage, they applied serious heat and a socket
with a 3ft strong arm, still didn’t budge.
Resorted to cutting the nut/sleeve down the length, just short of the treads
More heat and pried it off.
What a bugger of a job, at least I only need a need nut now.
