Years ago, I had a Supertrapp exhaust on my '79. I sold this to another CBXer and returned to a stock system.
I remember that the Supertrapp had some kind of inserts in the header pipes where they connect to the head.
They were about 2" long had a collar and fit snug into the pipes. I was never clear on what the purpose of these was
I have another Supertrapp that does not have these things. It would mount to the head without the inserts.
What are they and are they necessary?

Re: Supertrapp Question
The collars in the center shown here? Dunno why they added them. The flange lips on the pipes are sure thin, though. I had to have several weld repaired on the used set I got.
