I did this mod to my CBX when I 1st got her, nothing like Euro switches on an American bike.
I hard wired my front running lights and they cannot go out with the rest of the lights with the Euro switch.
Ray, I am sure you know, but if you put the switch into the P (park) position, the running lights stay on, while the headlight is out. Taillight will be on too.
Oh yes, I learned that the hard way many years ago when I came out to find my battery dead. :o

I just did the switch modification, but realized the new switch does not have leads for the running lights (orange/white and blue/white). What is the fix for this?

The CBX 550 and the Yourapeeing CB 1100 FD are almost identical to the U.S. sport kit throttle assembly, and the connecting wires except for a extra brown with blue stripe wire. I Temp wired to a U.S. doaner connector and left the brown and blue and a brown and white disconnected,(the brown and white loop on U.S. connector) everything works! Now I just need to respade the U.S. connector and I have a very nice sport throttle assembly for 29 bucks. The 1100 FD assemblies are still available thru Silver spares for 125.00 plus shipping. This is a super easy task to save you $ Thanks Terry & Simon for the wiring diagrams, they were a big help.

I used the spare brown wire out of the headlight bucket but, that left my running lights on all the time, even when you turn off the light switch on the right handle bar.

BTW, sorry for being so scarce but, I am not posting much anywhere anymore except vjmog.com being I do not have a CBX anymore.

I'm doing it again, my Pro-Link project build has Bol D'or switches and last night I started prepping the connections, total PITA.
Image
And to start with, I removed the wrong connecter but, that is okay as I can just put it back on. The big 79 connecters have to go, they take up too much space inside the headlight bucket and I have a stash of smaller connecters from 4 cylinder wiring harnesses.

So now I will go put the small black plastic connector back onto the right switch pig tail then remove and crimp on small brass connectors to use a matching black plastic connector.

I forgot to mention that I have a brand new wiring harness from Phil, it has 79 connectors but, I will put on late model connections to fit them in the headlight bucket easier.
