Does anyone else's do this, when the bikes cold i have to ride it 8-10 miles untill it starts to charge after it starts to charge it's fine . What would cause this , a weak spring?

Maybe a weak initial charge on the battery?

That battery's new and i keep it on the tender when not in use, It's my 82 god knows how many miles are on it I know i put 21,000 since i've had it i have changed the brushes and just recently checked them their fine

Dirty connectors or connector corrosion? I put an extra shim in one of my X's to get it to hook up quicker and charge a little more.

Thanks i'll check them. what did you use to shim the spring , just a washer ? how thick?

I used a spare X alternator washer. It seemed to do the trick.

I was of the opinion that this was normal. :? I think it says something like this in the manual..
