alternator rebuild

Post by cbx104 »

Recently acquired a 79 cbx from a long time friend that used to ride together way back when I had a new 80 model Great condition but has the typical charging issue I have decided to go with the friction disc mod from cbx performance as well as replacing all the usual parts needed The one item I can't get is the fibre washer that goes behind the spring and was wondering what everyone else has been doing with this as you can't get it anymore from anyone that I have found Any suggestions?

Thanks for that, Joe.
Didn't know or probably had just forgotten about that site.
They have a couple things i would like to order but numerous attempts trying to complete the order i had to give up.
No doubt operator error.

I order from the Supersport Shed often, never had a problem. Make sure you measure your spring, very likely it has collapsed at least a bit. It should not be less than 29mm.

Cary (Supersport Shed) has fiber washers, springs and shims, if Bob doesn't have everything you need.

+1 on Cary at Supersportshed. Fast service, very knowledgeable folks and sensible prices. A most valued and trusted supplier to our community. Cary's probably forgotten more than I will ever know about CBX and early twin cam fours.
If you can't see the part you need on their website, send them a note and they're only too happy to assist.

So have bike back together and took it for a test ride today Charging right up to 14 volts I would recommend this mod to all who are having charging issues
