Regulator mounting

My regulator is mounted with the wires going down which means the wires are visible below the cover.
Is this correct for a 79 model or did the PO mount it upside down?

It's backwards. You should not see wires at all under the sidecover, only the fins of the regulator. Very common error.

Thanks Dave. I have remounted it the correct way round and looks much better. Just one of the small things that bugged me until I got around to correct it.
