C5 aftermarket ignition woes

Is there anyone on the forum who has a C5 ignition system fitted, who lives in UK, preferably in the south, as i am from Watford, Herts . I have some running issues and would like to have a chat with someone with the same system, help would be appreciated, regards cbxchris

Hi Chris
I'm not from The UK but I am running a C5 ignition. I also had running issues when first installed and contacted C5.
My issue turned out to be that I did not have the cyl at exactly Top Dead Center.(I was a hair off) Once that was rectified the bike ran way better.

Hi Chris,
I am in Ireland and have 2 prolinks.
One runs C5 the other stock ignition.
I got the C5 (bought 4 sets) because i wanted a rev limiter and no igniters.
Both bikes run the same if anything i think the stock bike runs slightly better but not much in it.
The C5 runs fine with no issues.
As per ignition timing it makes no difference how it is set the bike runs the same??????????
Why I dont know, I was in France a couple of years ago and decided to play with the timing.
I loosened the C5 plate and rotated it both ways within the slack of the wiring.
tried it a good 15 to 20 deg rotation both ways, did test runs and the bike ran well both ways.
In the end I just moved the plate and revved the engine until it sounded the strongest and tightened up the plate.
Its been like that ever since including a fast run from Fuengirola to Cherbourg (1200 miles in 18 hours including stops).
I always ment to contact Paul and discuss the phenomenon but never got around to it.

There is not a lot to figure out it is such a simple setup.
Remove the advance retard unit, fit the C5, fit the coils. wire up and set the timing.
That is it, if it is not running properly there is nothing to adjust.
Get on to C5 if you think you have an issue with the unit.

I always wanted to know how these performed
Cause I would like to change the stock ignitors

I bought a C5 ignition and did not work properly, could not get a refund, so bought a Dyna system and runs great !

My CBX with C5 is still running well. I contacted Paul on FB and he got right back to me and told me to send the unit back if i had issues.
I dont have any issues and it is a simple setup.
I would like to see the ADV - Retard is action, like say with a timing light but I dont think that is possible due to it being an electronic process.
The bike is due a service and I will mess about with it a bit to see if i can learn a bit more about it.
