Spark plug gap using Accel coils

Hello all, haven't posted in awhile due to my cbx being down with coil issues, but it's about ready to be enjoyed this summer. I installed an Accel coil kit which I've had a few issues with, so looking for a bit of advice.

The installation manual says the plugs need to be gapped to .035, or some number within that vicinity, which I thought seemed a bit much. I only took the bike for a short test ride after the install, and there was a slight hesitation under heavy load below 3k, which felt like a spark issue (which I didn't have prior to the Accel install.) So I was just wondering what some of the other members gap their plugs to, with dyna or Accel coils.

I also have a motogpwerks 6-1 going on in the near future, which there doesn't seem to be many videos of. So I'll certainly be making a few clips for potential buyers!

With Dyna coils and ignition i am using a gap of .035".

How long has the bike been sitting with the coil problems?
Could the carbs gummed up from not being drained?

The bike sat for about 8 months, so thats a possibility. I added an ethanol neutralizer to the tank, knowing it was going to sit for awhile. Hopefully running a tank or two through the bike will resolve the issue, but thank you for confirming spark plug gap using aftermarket coils.

Big question for the carbs in prolonged storage: Were they drained and the fuel shut off?

Yes sir, fuel was shut off and carbs were drained in anticipation of the bike sitting for awhile. I also removed the factory air filter and installed a k&n drop in, which could very well be the issue also. I ordered an oem paper filter to interchange, and see if that doesn't make a difference.

Indeed the K&N aftermarket filter MIGHT be the cause of the problem.
A bit of info.
