Sports kit light switch

Post by sixinoz »

Hi All,
My 79 has the sports kit bars and switches. Light switch has 3 postions - 1. off all 2. on instruments and tail light and 3.All on. At the moment 1. is instruments and tail light on 2. same 3. all lights.
I opened the switch and there are only 2 wires on the light switch. Connect them and you get all lights. Wiring diagram has 4 wires which are black/red, blue white, brown /white and brown/blue. Mine only has 2 wires on the switch. Can anyone help me out with this.Surely there should be 4 wires on the switch? Also why are the instrument and tail light on all the time?
Thanks

Solved - looks like the kit was an add on and the previous owner used the old wiring but shortened it. Needed an extra wire run to the switch and soldered onto the correct terminal and all fixed. Took a bit of work but when I saw the bridge on the connector inside the headlight it was easy after that.
