Please help I'm Missing spring seat washer, need dimensions

Post by Thunderdome74 »

Hi everyone, so i am busy reassemblimg my cbx (1979) and have come to a halt...

I m missing the Spring seat washer that goes under the spring (engine side)

I am hoping someone here could please take some photographs as well as the dimesions
Outer diameter, inner diameter and thickness

How important is the precision of this piece? I see there are 3 tabs to centre the spring (i assume) on the washer then the washer sits in a ridge on the shaft?
The whole lot turns? IE: The shaft, plate ,spring , and washer all turn the same?

I want to make one up... can i get away without the Tabs centering the spring?
Anyone got a clever idea on how to utilise a normal washer?

The part is NLA from Honda
I'm kinda stuck as its one of the last things before firing her up , so any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks so much
Thor

Is it the cost of shipping or are you wanting to make one up yourself?
I would think someone in the States could get that one and ship it a lot cheaper than the $38.00 that the seller is quoting.

Hi, its not the cost ,at this point i would happily pay the 38$ its the length of time it takes to get here.
Anything i hvae ordered from ebay can take up to 6 months.
Sometimes we are lucky and it only takes 2 months.

I suppose DHL and the like is an option but then it starts getting real expensive.

The reason for hoping to make one up myself is the bike is a day or so from running... final hurdle

You need at least a flat washer that sits on the primary shaft flange. This keeps the spring from gouging the seal there. Yes, the whole assembly turns. I'd get the correct part coming ASAP. What's the problem shipping to SA? I can get anything to OZ or NZ in a week.

Thanks Dave

A week, I wish.

The problem is not getting here, but rather when it gets to our south african postoffice.
If they don't avail themselves of the goods (steal it) then it takes an extremely long time to arrive at the destination.
Then i will get notified by post (another few weeks) that i need to go and fetch it by customs

I would say of around 30 items i have ordered form ebay i have not recieved 5.

Its very wierd.I ordered a Marving exhaust for the x and it took 2 weeks. Was unbelievable.
Most other stuff takes about 3 - 4 months, with the longest evr being 9 months

a roll of the dice really

Hi,

Dimensions of the spring seat are:
- OD 33mm
- ID 19.5mm (a 19mm rod would fit thro' centre, a 20mm one wouldn't)
- washer thickness 2mm
- tabs 4mm high

Hope that helps!

Paul.
