Engine Breaking Down at 5000 rpm

Post by Hound_Dog »

Hi guys, recently resolved a problem with 2 cold cylinders (pulse generator and a spark unit changed). Synched carbs and bike idles beautifully at 900ish rpm and runs cleanly to around 5k rpm where engine breaks down and runs very poorly. Advice appreciated on possible causes.

Thanks all

Does it clear up after 5,000 rpm or won't rev past that number.
Any chance you have changed the air filter?

If they are all breaking up and not just a single cylinder cutting out i would think it is still an electrical issue.

Nope, wont go past about 5K. Not just a single cylinder either. Air filter was changed previoulsy but bike ran fine.
