Carb Balancer Recommendations?

Post by Ed Townsend »

Looking for advice on selection of a carb balance setup and where to buy if possible. Thanks in advance.

I use the four mercury tubes with good results.

Balance #5 first then #6. Change the tubes over then and do #3, #2,#1 respectively.

A few years ago I saw a mechanic with a Honda 6 cylinder digital setup. I was afraid to ask him how much it cost.

I got a four gauge setup from TIMS back around 1999.Seems like it was about 110 bucks but first rate, including all hoses and adapters. The round gauges are mounted on a plate and include built in screws to damp the needle oscillation.Just do 4,5,and six then the rest based off of the one with no adjustment,I think its 5.I got that old 79 to idle so smooth, well it still did when I sold it 4 years later.
