Air plenum question

Post by Dmerc »

I want to install the carbs first, then slip the air plenum in between the carbs and filter box. Can that be done with the engine tilted or does the plenum have to be in there already? This is a basket case bike so I didn't take it apart. Factory manual is a little vague on this. Thanks!

It is easier for me to have all the airbox assembly in the bike. If you have motor out I put front half of airbox on the carbs. :handgestures-fingerscrossed:

Make sure you put cables on carbs before you install them or you will regret it.

Big DITTO on that, Tevan! Regarding the airbox, I install with the engine tilted after installing the carbs. Then, bring the engine up backing it into the filter box. ('82 prolink)

Easiest is to have the engine tilted, install carbs, then slide the mid-chamber in place. Then carefully raise everything back into place.
