New Owner from Italy

Hello all, and thanks for admitting me in the community.

I just pick-up a 79 CBX in Italy. The original first and sole owner bought it in early 1980 and kept it pretty much original with just 31k Km.
Over the time he had to change the mufflers with an afternarket model (due to the rusty OEM) and the alternator with a more powerful DENSO unit.

Frame number is CB1-2018801 - engine is CB1E-2008489 - I was told the numbers should be closer each other - isnt' it ? there is no reason why it shlouldn't be the original engine that came from the factory.

I just had my first 100Km ride and the bike runs great !!!

Hope to share impressions and info with the owner community here.

Paolo.

Welcome! I hate to disappoint, but the original engine to your bike would have had the serial number on a raised casting behind #6 cylinder. Engine numbers moved there with engine number 17147. Your bike should have had an engine number closer to the frame number and certainly with the serial number behind #6. However it came to be that this engine swap took place is lost to history, but it's no real biggie for your CBX to be a very nice rider. Enjoy!
