I'm restoring an 83 CBX550F and found the bike is using Progressive Suspension fork springs +washers and spring spacers. Is this an acceptable setup, wouldn't it be better to use a solid spacers rather than a spring spacer? I called Progressive Suspension and asked if the could advise me on the correct spacer length I should cut but they have no information.
Does anyone know what spacer length is needed for Progressive Suspension's fork springs?
I appreciate any insight.

Re: CBX550F - Fork Springs Spacer Length Needed
If you get no other info, I'd start with a 25mm (1 inch) of spring preload. PVC pipe works good. Use a flat washer over the spring top. Be certain to de-burr the pvc/clean the 'fuzzy' stuff from cutting it.
